    This hybrid seed strain of cardinal flower has purple stalks, contrasting nicely with the brilliant scarlet red flowers (RHS 45B) which are borne in late summer through fall. Before the flowers open, the new foliage often has a purple cast. The flower color is very similar to L. speciosa 'Compliment Scarlet'.
