This is the latest color selection in the Benary's lobelia hybrids. These hybrids, which include our native L. cardinalis and L. speciosa, are renowned for their large flowers and unique color range. The flat winter rosettes shoot upward to 3' tall, and in midsummer are topped with hundreds of dark, velvety, violet-purple flowers near the top of the stem... always a favorite for hummingbirds. Cardinal flowers are best in moist soils in plenty of sun.
