This new Dan Heims hybrid of our native L. cardinalis x L. siphilitica has produced a nice compact and free-flowering 2' tall cardinal flower. In late July to early August, the upright stalks are topped with compact heads of rich purple flowers. Cardinal flowers perform best in moist to damp soils.
