This easy-to-grow hybrid of Hymenocallis narcissiflora x H. amancaes is one of the most stunning flowers in our summer garden, where it has prospered for many, many years (unlike many of the high altitude Andean species). The 18" long, green strap-shaped leaves emerge from the underground bulb in late spring. In July, each flowering stalk emerges from the base and opens at 18" in height to reveal 2-3 large trumpet-shaped, soft yellow flowers highlighted with a large, dark green star-pattern in the center. Did I mention the wonderful fragrance? H. 'Sulfur Queen' grows best in rich, moist conditions.
