Hydrangea macrophylla 'Maculata'
Variegated Lacecap Hydrangea
Item #: 294
Zones: 6a to 9b
Dormancy: Winter
Height: 36" tall
Culture: Part Sun to Light Shade
Origin: Japan
Pot Size: 3.5" pot (24 fl. oz/0.7 L)
The summer-produced flower heads are composed of a row of sterile florets around the large central flower cluster. The lacecap flowers are blue in acidic soil and pink in alkaline areas. When winter temperatures drop below 10 degrees F, the bloom buds may be killed...that's okay, though, since the white edged foliage is so wonderful! Expect a 3' tall x 5' wide clump at maturity. We originally received this big-leaf lacecap hydrangea as Hydrangea macrophylla 'Mariesii Variegata', but the correct cultivar name seems to be 'Maculata'.
