Q: I know you said prefers shady or partial sun but where I wanted was to plant it is in a pot in front of the house where there's direct sun. Do you think this spot is appropriate to plant it?

A: The variegated hydrangea would not be happy in a container in direct sun. It could take some direct morning sun, but afternoon or all day sun would likely burn the foliage.
Q: I have several of these, but even after about 5 years, they are no taller than about 3 inches. I have them in a variety of locations (because I love them) but they do not want to seem to 'grow up'. What am I doing wrong?

Our experts are well equipt with tools to help, sometimes even with a few photos! Let us know if this is possible and if so, email them with your contact information to 'email@example.com'...view more Frank W.
I live in lower zone 5. Can I grow the Maculata Hydrangea here? If so can I plant now, or is there a better time? Also what is the growth rate to maturity?
Plant Delights Nursery A: This plant most likely will not survive winters in your zone. We recomend fall planting as long as there is enough time for the plant to root in appropriately before the first frost. Every plant is different, so it would depend on the plant, how long it will take root! Thank you...view more Cari W.

Q: Thank you for your response! So I am in Zone 10b. Is a pot (10 gallon?) a possibility? I know I am out of the stated zone range; if this is a bad idea, please let me know. I am in love with Hydrangeas and this one is gorgeous.
Plant Delights Nursery A: These are sold and shipped in 3.5"x3.5" pots. We agree with you, we love this beautiful plant too! As you have stated, you are out of the recommended zone which means summers are too hot, or winters are too cold, or both, and our guarantee policy would be void. But it is a gorgeous...view more Cari W.

Q: Can I grow this hydrangea in a large pot? If so, what would be an appropriate size? Thank you!

So if you are in a zone 6, this would no longer be considered hardy in a pot. The size of the pot should...view more
