I picked this gem up from the real Heronswood Nursery back in 1999, after asking Dan to give me a short list of his very favorite cultivars of Hydrangea macrophylla. Hydrangea 'Beaute Vendomoise' has indeed been a wonderful performer for us here on the East Coast, forming a 5' tall x 6' wide specimen in 14 years. In mid-May (NC), the clump is ablaze with hundreds of large lacecaps...blue in acidic soils and pink in alkaline soils. It's hard not to fall in love all over again with a clump of Hydrangea macrophylla 'Beaute Vendomoise' in your garden.
