Hippeastrum pampeanum is a new and very rare, yet to be published species from the South American pampas, from Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil and Uruguay. The 20" tall stalks are topped with clusters of small, but brilliant scarlet-orange flowers, that open, starting for us in mid-August. A well-drained site in part sun is best.
