This delightful dwarf ginger lily was a 1966 discovery in the Dudh Kosi Valley, Nepal at 9000' elevation by the UK's Tony Schilling, who named his new find after his son. Hedychium 'Stephen' is perfect for the small garden where space is a consideration. Not only does 'Stephen' top out around 3', but the narrow foliage makes for a rather svelte specimen. Hedychium 'Stephen' is topped with slender flower heads of fragrant, butterscotch-yellow flowers each highlighted by contrasting orange anthers. For us, Hedychium 'Stephen' starts flowering in late July and repeats until late September...just darling.
