This is a cute, dainty little fern with tripinnate (three pronged) leaves, and a circumpolar range (naturally occurring around the world). There is probably some great meaning in all of this, but it escapes me. The creeping habit of this deciduous fern is just enough to make a nice groundcover, but not enough to become a pest. Naturally occurring in moist acidic soils, it makes a great addition to most woodland gardens.
