Without question, this is the most exciting gaura that we've ever grown. This 1992 Thayer Dodd introduction was discovered growing on the causeway to Dauphin Island, Alabama (the region affectionately called the "Red Neck Riviera"). The rigidly upright stems rise to 5-7' tall (some customers reported 10-12' tall), topped with dainty flowers that emerge pink, then change to white on the second day. The contrast of the dark pink buds and the flowers is truly delightful. This is a great see-through plant for any garden... wet or dry! After further study, we feel that this may indeed be another less hardy gaura species, but work is still continuing.
