Galanthus elwesii var. monostictus is a Turkish native snowdrop and one of the easiest and most durable ones we grow. For us, Galanthus elwesii var. monostictus forms dense clumps of 1' tall flower stalks, that start for us in early November and continue through December, followed by wide, glaucous foliage. In late spring the foliage begins to die back and goes dormant for the summer and fall. Until the mid-1990s, this was mistakenly cultivated as Galanthus caucasicus. It is also similar, but larger than Galanthus alpinus.
