We are thrilled to add another gesneriad to this list of hardy garden species. This 1983 P. Worley hybrid is a cross of the South American Eucodonia verticillata 'Frances' x E. ehrenbergii. E. 'Adele' emerges in June and forms a tight, 1' wide clump of 6" x 3" heavily pleated, dark olive-green foliage with very hairy, reddish veins below...we peeped! The clumps, which the eye reads as brown-purple, are topped, starting in early October and continuing until frost, with lovely, blue-lavender, pocketbook-like flowers held just above the foliage. This is a real easy-to-grow gem for the woodland garden.
