Eleutherine bulbosa is another of the great, but little-known small irids from South America. The narrow pleated foliage anchors the 10" flower spikes that start in late summer and continue for us until frost. Each spike is home to several nocturnal 1" wide creamy white flowers. Eleutherine will never be compared to tulips for great beauty, but it certainly ranks high in the "cute" category.
