(syn: Dryopteris varia var. sacrosancta) Dryopteris sacrosancta is a slow-growing triploid (3 sets of chromosomes) hardy fern native to moist wooded slopes in the temperate forests of China, Japan, and Korea. Dryopteris sacrosancta makes a 2' tall, evergreen, deer-resistant clump of glossy, triangular, light green fronds.
