This amazing Japanese fern is close in appearance but larger than the easy-to-grow Dryopteris atrata. Many botanists assume it to be a rare natural hybrid between Dryopteris atrata and Dryopteris dickinsii. What that means in your garden is a sturdy 3-4' wide evergreen clump of dark green arching foliage.
