This selection of the deciduous Dryopteris dilatata was made in 1969 on a fern expedition to the Isle of Arran by fern expert Jimmy Dyce, and later named in his honor. This shorter-than-normal clone has broad, rich-green foliage and a very upright, arching growth habit to 1' tall x 1' wide... larger in the Pacific Northwest. Dryopteris 'Jimmy Dyce' makes a great mass landscape plant for the woodland garden.
