Ok, so it's a biennial, but everyone who visits our spring open house asks about buying one, so here it is. This Southwest European native has been a great plant in our spring garden, composed of a glossy bright green basal rosette, topped in late spring with 3' tall stalk of mauvy purple flowers. After flowering, it disappears for the summer, re-appearing as small seedlings in early fall. We especially like the fact that it reseeds in place.
