The late plant explorer Lyn Lowrey was one of the first to recognize this dasylirion, which he called an arborescent form of Dasylirion texanum. Finally, the Dasylirion monograph revealed this to be the rare, newly named, Dasylirion miquihuanense from the Michiquana region of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, at 6000' elevation. With great age, Dasylirion miquihuanense boasts a massive 6' tall trunk topped with lovely, twisting, 4' long spiny green foliage...a dazzling tree rosette. Our ten-year-old specimen has yet to start a trunk.
