(aka: Clematopsis scabiosifolia) Clematis villosa is an odd, and virtually unknown, non-vining species that hails from the dry coastal grasslands of northern South Africa. The dissected green foliage adorns the lax hairy stems that grow to 3' long. The stem tips lift upward, supporting the pendant white buds that open to single blush pink flowers. For us, July and August are peak flowering season. This is certain to be one of the oddest clematis you've ever grown.
