Baumea rubiginosa 'Variegata'

This easy-to-grow New Zealand native, comes from brackish marshes, and is a perfect plant for wet areas near water gardens or ponds. Although it spreads slowly by rhizomes, we have not found it to be a nuisance in our garden. The rigid 30" dark green and gold banded round stems resemble some of my seven day old linguini, but are soft to the touch...adding a wonderful vertical effect to the garden design. While B. rubiginosa loves moist soil, it will not tolerate constant flooding.
