When I was visiting Virginia plantsman Paul James in 2001, he shared cuttings of several of his favorite seedling aucubas. This particular male cultivar struck my fancy with its small contorted green leaves and extremely compact habit. After eleven years of trials, it has made a lovely 3' tall x 3' wide mound in our garden, so we are pleased to introduce it for the first time as Aucuba 'Pacman'.
