(syn: Cheilanthes bonariensis, Astrolepis sinuata) This attractive southwest US native is found on well-drained limestone outcrops and slopes from Texas south to South America, but is rarely seen in cultivation. The spores for our offering are from 6,000' elevation in Jeff Davis Co., Texas. The narrow upright semi-evergreen dark green fronds with stunning white backs line the black stipe. N. sinuata makes a tight 18" wide clump with a short creeping rhizome which usually hides beneath a large rock. This is not a fern to be tried by beginners, as it is not as easy to cultivate as most other ferns.
