    This very rare Japanese endemic from Iriomote Island is prized for its thick plush velvet foliage, which is either dark green or occasionally speckled with white. Often the leaves are colored purple on their backside. The evergreen clump of 3" wide heart shaped foliage is topped in spring with small wrinkled brown flowers around the base of the foliage. Great for the warm garden or in containers in cooler climates.
