    From Japan's Ryoku Island comes this rare but vigorous clump forming species that is new to US cultivation. This variable species is the largest of the Japanese gingers and can easily make a 15" wide clump. The glossy green leaves can range up to 8" long. The inflated bottle shape flowers surround the base of the clump in early spring.
