This group of plants is often mistakenly labeled A. italicum x maculatum, but is actually straight A. italicum. This PDN selection comes from the beautiful A. 'Chamaeleon' seed strain. The silvery leaf center of the large spade-like leaves is surrounded by a contrasting green border with a smaller green pattern in the leaf center. The leaves emerge in October and persist throughout the winter until they flower in late April/early May. The flower is composed of a large lime-green spathe with a protruding, stiff green spadix. After flowering, they go summer dormant, so don't panic.
