(syn: Cacalia atriplicifolia) This little-known US native is found from Minnesota south to Florida on the edge of woodlands. The waxy blue-green leaves with attractive chalky white backs, form an attractive basal rosette, topped in late summer with 5' tall flower spikes ending in clusters of small white flowers. Indian plantain is not going to win any flower show ribbons, but it is a very cool and far too often overlooked native plant.
