A. tortuosum is one of the easiest to grow members of the cobra lily family. These plants were grown from seed from the dwarf form A. tortuosum var. helleborifolium, which should only reach a height of 2-3' tall. Emerging in early May in NC, the thick green and black pattern stalks boast two large hand like green leaves on each side of the stem. Atop the stem sits a green pitcher with a whipcord like "tongue"...actually it's an extended sex organ....what an exhibitionist! This is however one of the only self indulgent arisameas...no sex partner needed for seed production!
