Arisaema speciosum makes a bold statement in the garden, starting with its giant 18" wide tripartite (3 leaflets) red-edged leaves on 2' tall green mottled snakeskin stalks. As the leaf unfurls, the flower emerges simultaneously from the base of the clump. Atop this shorter 3" stem sits a 6" tall purple and white striped arching hood. Peeking out from below the hood is a really wild looking reddish purple tongue that spirals out from the flower to 18"...not for the faint of heart! A. speciosum is a mountainous species, and prefers a cool, well drained site in the woodland.
