This cultivar of A. paeoniifolius was developed in India by A.N.G. Ranga Agriculture University as a food crop where it is known by the moniker Elephant foot yam. You can read more about food production with this non-acrid (edible without crystalizing your mouth) cultivar in the International Aroid Society's journal "Aroidiana", Volume 25. Each 5' tall smooth stalk, mottled green with white splotches, is topped with a huge palm-like leaf. After the bulb reaches 8" across, enjoy the bizarre brain-like flower that will be produced in late spring.
