From the huge to miniature...all in one genus! Yes, we now have amorphophallus sized for the kitchen windowsill...ideal to get your mind off cooking, dishwashing, and other mundane chores. This new species of amorphophallus, named in 2001, was discovered in Thailand by plant explorer Mary Sizemore. The 3" tall vegetative stalk is topped with a leaf composed of five green leaflets. The inflorescence that appears before the leaves emerge is composed of a 1/2" tall pale-pink thimble-shaped spathe with purple speckling around the top. From inside the spathe emerges a 4" long purple sex organ...quite well endowed for a midget. Despite the small size of the tubers, these are flowering size plants...a real cutie!
