With the introduction of Amorphophallus konjac 'Pinto', we take strange to a whole new level...the dwarf one. We trialed many dwarf seedlings nearly a decade ago from our garden seed crop and have selected one to be named. This amazing dwarf has congested, glossy dark green leaves and is full-sized when it reaches 3" in height. In all respects, it is identical to the typical A. konjac, although our original dwarf plant has not yet flowered. Even a 10-year old mature bulb never exceeds 1" in diameter, so don't expect our 2-3 year-old bulbs to be much larger than a large pea. Frankly, A. 'Pinto' has little landscape value except maybe in a bonsai pot, but nevertheless, I'm sure all collectors will want to have one. Actually, to make any impact, you will want to buy several.
