    This hard-to-find variegated form of the upright elephant ear is an unstable chimera. This genetic variegation pattern (not viral) is highly unstable and consequently, one leaf may be all green, another all white and another splotched. Unstable chimeras must be monitored to remove all solid green shoots because of their increased vigor. Because of the reduced chlorophyll content of the leaves, we have never seen this grow much more than 3' tall...a collectors special.
