Administrative Manager
We are seeking an administrative manager to run the sales and administrative logistics in an indoor/outdoor casual environment.
Our organization is driven by Tony Avent, founder of Plant Delights Nursery and Juniper Level Botanic Garden. We are one corporate entity with two names but a singular focus--ex-situ plant conservation, plant exploration, breeding, and making plants available via propagation through online retail sales worldwide. We are home to one of the world’s most extensive plant collections, which are propagated and offered mail order to customers worldwide.
We are seeking someone who desires to guide a passionate team of proven professionals in pursuit of a lofty and altruistic conservation vision. We are currently raising funds for a long-term operational endowment. Once the endowment fund is realized, NC State University will assume ownership responsibility.
We need a nurturing manager who can maintain and improve our e-commerce operation, develop and maintain talent, maintain and improve customer and vendor relationships, and maintain and improve efficient systems of operation in a highly expeditious and complex environment with multiple areas of operation including the following.
Our ideal candidate will have great scope and vision to address concerns with meticulous detail on both the micro and macro level.
Job Description
General Administration
- Manage business sales and growth
- Manage garden membership program
- Manage and develop procedures, protocols, and efficient adherence to such
- Manage and monitor administrative finances
- Manage on-site event planning and visitation
- Coordinate overall goals with other managers
E-Commerce Management
- Manage Customer Service Staff and Operating Systems
- Manage Shipping/Stocking Staff and Operating Systems
- Manage IT/Web development Staff and Operating Systems
- Manage Marketing Staff
Manage HR/Bookkeeping Department
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree
- Minimum three years business management and e-commerce experience
- Experience and strong understanding of human resources and accounting
- Strong business acumen tempered by emotional intelligence
Employee Classification: Salary Permanent Full Time
Compensation: $54,000 - $60,000 starting, based upon experience
Standard Business Hours: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm + eight open nursery and garden sales weekends each year

We are seeking a Customer Service Representative to focus on communication with customers and translate their needs to flow with our processes and procedures to get the best results for both the customer and the business.
We are Plant Delights Nursery/Juniper Level Botanic Garden, a perennial plant nursery established in Raleigh in 1986, offering unique, rare, well grown, and properly named perennials to passionate gardeners around the world. Despite being best known as a nursery, we actually exist for our work as a private 28-acre botanical garden and plant research facility focusing on ex-situ plant conservation, plant exploration, breeding, and making plants available via propagation. We are a family-owned company with a mission to support research, education and the exploration of plants through the sales of unique perennial plants.
Our nursery and garden provide an opportunity to work indoors and outdoors year-round, so we have a casual dress code, a diverse staff, and a friendly working environment.
This position is fast paced and must maintain a high degree of accuracy and a positive attitude, be a team player who enjoys talking and learning about plants and has pleasant phone and communication etiquette to ensure excellent customer service experiences. Be open to assisting other roles and/or departments should the need arise. Occasionally work weekends for tours, open houses, or education center classes.
Job Description

Duties include but at not limited to:
- Answering telephones
- Processing orders
- Addressing customer needs
- Customer email correspondence
- Assisting on-site customers
- Communicating data integrity issues
- Additional data entry and tasks as required
- Assist with fulfilling orders
Compensation: starting at $16/hour
Employee Classification: Hourly, permanent full-time

Qualifications
Technology Skills: Familiar with Office 365--Word, Excel, Outlook, web-based ordering platforms, Google Docs and other software needed in the functioning of the position.
