For us, this easy-to-grow Mexican form of Zephyranthes traubii (collection # YD20-21) has been very different from the typical Texas form of the species. The much narrower glossy green, thread-like foliage, fast offset rate, and weeping habit makes a very nice carex-looking clump. Beginning in late August, the abundant 9" tall stalks of Zephyranthes traubii 'San Carlos' are each topped with a stunning show of pure white star-shaped flowers that hover a few inches above the foliage. Opening for us, around 8pm, and each lasting two days, these intensely sweet fragranced flowers perfume over 100' in each direction...a dream come true if you're a nocturnal moth, or have these planted near an outdoor seating area!
