Sabal 'DeFuniak' is an outstanding, hardy, trunking palm growing roadside in the Florida panhandle town of DeFuniak Springs, where it was spotted originally by Georgia palm guru, Tom McLendon, for its unusual character. It's almost certainly a cross of Sabal palmetto x Sabal minor, although Sabal etonia could possibly be the second parent. Regardless, this is the fastest growing, hardy sabal palm we've ever seen, flowering for us, at five years of age. The trunkson the original plant has never exceeded 15' in height, so this stays a good garden size.
