Sarracenia x bellii is a seed strain of a hybrid of Sarracenia leucophylla and Sarracenia rubra ssp. gulfensis, first named in 2008 by our late friend Larry Mellichamp in honor of the late NC botanist, Dr. C. Ritchie Bell. The specimen is based on very rare, naturally-occurring plants in Santa Rosa County, Florida. Sarracenia x bellii is not the same as Sarracenia x readii, which is now recognized to be a cross of Sarracenia leucophylla x Sarracenia alabamensis ssp. wherryi. Special thanks to Larry for sharing this with us. The upright 15" tall pitchers are green with white and red netting.
