This new selection of our native Phlox paniculata from Dutch plant breeder Rene van Gaalen boasts leaves that are each surrounded by a wide golden border. As the leaves age, the border changes to a creamy white. The most amazing thing about P. 'Goldmine' is its vigor in the heat and humidity of the South compared to all other variegated phlox that we have trialed. In midsummer (July in NC), the 30" tall mildew-resistant clumps are topped with terminal clusters of violet flowers...an eye-stopping sight.
