Imperata 'Red Baron'

Named and first promoted by grass guru, Kurt Bluemel, I. 'Red Baron' is one of our favorite small-sized grasses. When grown in bright sun, the upper half of the 1' tall upright narrow green foliage turns bright red. The slowly spreading clumps (very well behaved) eventually make a nice mass planting. Plant in larger masses for best effect. The color of the red foliage intensifies with cool night temperatures. Do not expect any flowers, as they have only been observed under tropical conditions.
