(syn: Ligularia tussilaginea 'Ryuto') Second to amorphophallus, Farfugium 'Ryuto' gets the next most frequent comments..."It's the ugliest plant I've ever seen!" I can only say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We are, therefore, saving these for our visually impaired customers...just kidding. This Japanese selection of leopard plant has foliage that looks like you peeled a shiny road-kill bullfrog off the highway. In fact, each plant produces dozens of these leaves...attractively arranged, of course. The clumps are topped in fall with spikes of bright yellow daisies that will make you forget all about the ugly leaves...not. If you like curiosities, want to get your plant-hating spouses something for their birthday, or just want to grow something stranger than yourself, this is your plant!
