Thanks to the fern guru, the late Barbara Jo Hoshizaki, for sharing this unique fern that we have grown to love. This widespread (but rarely cultivated) Asian fern has a large native range from Bhutan through China and into Malaysia, where it can be found from sea level up to 5,500' elevation. Although Ctenitis subglandulosa usually occurs on alkaline soils, it has performed beautifully for us in our slightly acidic conditions, forming a compact 1' tall x 18" wide evergreen clump. Either light shade or morning sun with average moisture is best...we hope you enjoy this as much as we do.
