Crinum x digweedii 'Red Flare' is a Marcelle Sheppard introduction of a cross between Crinum scabrum and Crinum americanum. For us, the upright 4’ tall fountain of glossy green foliage remains attractive all summer, and serves as a nice background for the 40” tall flowers stalks that begin appearing in mid-August (NC). Each stalk is topped with 9-11, large, flat, outfacing, red and white striped fragrant flowers…quite striking. Crinum ‘Red Flare’ has the largest flowers of any of the Crinum x digweedii hybrids we’ve grown...quite stunning.
