Taccarum caudatum is an amazing hardy tuberous aroid (think arum, arisaema, amorphophallus), but without the aroma. Hailing from Bolivia, Peru, and Northern Brazil, taccarum have no business being winter hardy for us in Zone 7b, but after a decade in the ground, they not only return, but thrive and multiply. The underground tubers give rise to 3' tall amorphophallus-like stalks of foliage emerging for us in mid-June.
