More Information About Merwilla

Like Hyacinth, Merwilla produces a cluster of small blue flowers on a single tall stem that arises from the bulb in early summer. Once it starts blooming, Merwilla flowers last a long time (around a month) in the garden and they make excellent long lasting cut flowers too.

Merwilla bulbs can grow to be quite large (softball sized) and the bulb grows so that the top third of the bulb pokes out of the ground. Merwilla is a great plant for a rock garden or a container garden as it prefers well drained soil and is heat and drought tolerant.
