We typically think of the stunning Yucca torreyi as a Zone 7 plant, so we are ecstatic to offer a Zone 5 hardy strain from Chaves County, New Mexico...a region that's recorded -24F (1962) in the wild. Although slow to start, Yucca torreyi 'Chaves' will eventually become a 15' tall phone pole like structure, clothed with 3' long, rigid bayonet-shaped leaves. The flower spikes, which top the trunk in April, glow like a white extra-terrestrial orb as they open. Thanks to the late New Mexico plantsman David Salman for sharing seed from this special collection at 5,450' elevation. This is a limited offering until sold out.
