Verbesina persicifolia 'Autumn Sunburst'

(aka: V. A1M-57) From our 1994 trip to Mexico, this has been one of the best discoveries and finally, thanks to Alice Le Duc, we know what it is. Verbesina persicifolia has woody stems that emerge from the ground and rise quickly to 8' tall. The peach-like leaves on our selection are tinged pale purple. In October, the clumps are topped with huge sprays of brilliant golden daisies. Since the stems are very narrow, V. 'Autumn Sunburst' can fit in among virtually anything without choking out nearby plants. We think this is a truly superb addition to the fall garden.
