Charming isn't good enough to describe this delightful miniature woodland Japanese meadow rue, Thalictrum kiusianum. The tiny deer-resistant clumps of maidenhair fern-like foliage emerge for us in early March, andform a slowly-expanding patch to only 6" tall. Although it's native habitat is in moist soils, it has thrived for us in extremely dry soils. In early summer, the clumps of Thalictrum kiusianum are topped with airy, light purple flowers that rest just above the foliage. Here is a gem for the woodland rock garden...you will absolutely LOVE IT!
