Sabal rosei 'Augusta Rose' is a seed grown strain shared by Augusta, GA plantsman and palm guru, Jo LeVert. Joe has an old clump of Sabal rosei that has survived for two decades in an area where Sabal rosei should not survive, and has survived 11 degrees F in that time. The original seed came from palm seedsman, Inge Hoffman. It is possible that these are a hybrid with another sabal species.
