    This marvelous collection of the evergreen Polystichum neolobatum comes from a 2003 Hans Hansen collection in Sichuan China's Yu Wa Valley, near the town of Nan Ping at 6,500' elevation. For us, Polystichum neolobatum 'Yu Wa' makes a stunning 18" tall x 2' wide clump of arching glossy green foliage. We have tried many forms of Polystichum neolobatum, most of which couldn't survive our hot, humid climate, but this has been superb in our garden. We have discovered that Polystichum neolobatum grows best on a mild slope of rich, evenly moist soil, as opposed to being planted on flat ground.
