Lycoris sprengeri 'Sweetheart' is a 2021 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a Phil Adams selection that we've had under evaluation since 2013, and found worthy of a cultivar name and introduction. For us, the 18" tall stalks emerge in late August, at which time they are topped with bubble-gum pink flowers, tipped in blue. The petals of Lycoris 'Sweetheart' are wider and shorter than most typical forms of Lycoris sprengeri. Following flowering, the plant retreats underground, with leaves emerging in late February and growing until late spring.
