This is one of our favorite native sunflowers that doesn't seem to get enough respect. H. atrorubens is a great height to blend into the perennial garden. As with all good perennials, it doesn't smoke, drink too much, or run around. The 2" wide yellow daisy like flowers with purple eyes occur in late summer and fall on 3-4' stalks.
